This includes the manufacturing of medium-power transformers, mobile transformers, mobile electrical substations, trailers, and unitized substations. We offer power transformers for utility applications including power and distribution, transmission voltages, system ties, and automatic voltage regulations, as well as industrial applications. Delta Star also provides comprehensive engineering, testing, maintenance services, and parts for any transformer manufacturer through our Field Service business unit, ensuring our customer's transformers and mobiles maintain peak performance.
Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Class A Driver to transport midsize power transformers, modular substations and related products across various locations in the United States, as well as moving materials between the factory and the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transportation regulations, exceptional driving skills, and a commitment to delivering equipment safely and efficiently.
Main Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A vehicles to transport midsize power transformers, modular substations and related products to designated locations across the USA.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and load to ensure safety and compliance with all regulations.
  • Secure and properly load/unload transformers (and related products), ensuring they are transported without damage.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes taken, expense and per diem reports, and delivery confirmations as per DOT regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise during transport.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation laws and company policies.
  • Assist in route planning to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
Specific Duties
  • Check and retighten as needed the shipping braces hardware that could loosen with vibration during the road.
  • Safely moving materials between the factory and the warehouse.
  • Adhere to posted work schedules (when not traveling).
  • Keep a correct record of hours worked locally (when not traveling).
  • Schedule and take the vehicle(s) to the shop for maintenance when required.
  • Take care of the company vehicle and have it in excellent service condition at all times.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Valid Class A driver's license required
  • 2+ years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
  • Skilled at driving large vehicles
  • Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
  • Able to operate an electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • High level of composure and good stress management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving Class A vehicles, preferably in the transportation of oversized or specialized loads.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards related to transporting heavy equipment.
  • Experience with securing loads, including using chains, straps, and other securing devices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing conditions on the road.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
