PURPOSE
To establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill current and future part-time, permanent and temporary positions (Six hours/day, split-shift, Monday-Friday), 10 months per year (school year), for the duration of the list, up to one year.

Summary
Under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor, operates a diesel or gas powered passenger vehicle to transport up to nine special education students to and from schools, special trips, and events.

Licenses and Certificates
A valid California driver's license and safe driving record with the Department of Motor Vehicles
Valid First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained prior to completion of the probationary period.

Work is performed outdoors where some safety considerations exist from physical activity, traffic conditions, and adverse weather conditions.

Salary : Five step salary range that provides annual increases of approximately five percent until the fifth step is reached. An employee who is promoted to a higher class shall be placed on the step of the new salary range that is at least five percent above the current rate, excluding any differential pay.
Vacation : Earned based on assigned hours. Increased vacation allowance based on years of service with the district. Confidential employees receive an additional 3 days vacation allotment, up to a maximum of 22 days. Management employees receive 22 days of vacation (based on 12-month assignment).
Sick Leave : Earned at the rate of one day (based on the number of assigned hours) per month, and is accumulative from year to year.
Holidays: Fourteen paid holidays per year (based on 12-month assignment).
Insurance and Credit Union : The District offers a competitive Health and Welfare plan for employees and dependents, based upon the number of hours worked; employees who are placed in a regular assignment of 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits. The Ventura Schools Federal Credit Union offers a variety of services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives a diesel or gas passenger vehicle over a designated route in conformity with an established time schedule; picks up and discharges students at designated schools and events.
- Supervises conduct of students being transported to maintain appropriate behavior in accordance with District policies regarding student conduct.
- Assists in maintaining the equipment in a clean and safe condition including but not limited to sweeping the interior, picking up debris, and maintaining windows in clean condition at all times.
- Services vehicle with fuel and oil; inspects first aid kit, fire extinguisher, security of brakes, seat belts, doors, windows, transmission, brakes, lights, and other components for safe operation on a daily basis.
- Performs first aid, CPR, and emergency assistance to ill or injured students.
- Completes and maintains records and reports including incident and accident reports and records of trips.
- Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

- Follow oral and written directions
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records of operations
- Learn designated routes
- Maintain route time schedules

- Administer first aid and CPR to ill or injured students
- Complete the district training program
- Ability to function in a vehicle and outdoors engaged in work of an active nature
- Arm-hand and leg-foot dexterity to drive a vehicle
- Visual acuity including depth perception;
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Hearing sufficient to be aware of traffic and road distractions/conditions and listen to students
