Forklift Operator

Job Summary:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, and transporting materials throughout the plant and into trailers. This position requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts, performing inspections, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to load/unload materials, navigate throughout the plant, and into trailers, including in tight or small areas.
• Safety Procedures: Follow all established forklift safety protocols, including conducting pre-shift performance and mechanical inspections on the forklift.
• Loading and Securing: Ensure that the correct materials are loaded onto the right trailers, securing loads properly and ensuring shipping lines remain clear.
• Manual Handling: Manually slide or flip doors (up to 50 lbs. per door) as part of the loading process.
• Routing and Coordination: Coordinate product routing through the department based on product and process flow, working closely with other departments to maintain efficiency.
• Space Planning: Use the daily production schedule to determine space requirements and stage doors for the next step in the process.
• Collaboration: Work in tandem with team members and other departments to meet operational needs.
• Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
• Communication: Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Required Qualifications:

• Forklift Certification (mandatory)
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Good technical/mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications (if any):

• Prior experience in forklift operation within a manufacturing or warehouse setting is a plus

• Forklift certification is a required certification for this role
