Our Van Drivers provide relief and enjoyment for our families by driving them, in our van, to local shopping centers, events, and local attractions. Often our families do not have a car while they are in Seattle or are not comfortable driving in the city. Our families truly appreciate any transportation that our volunteers can provide and look forward to van outings. This volunteer position requires someone personable, helpful, and dependable.
The Van Driver needs to be comfortable driving in the city with the minor distractions of 11 other people in the van.
You must be over 21 and under 75 years of age. A qualified Volunteer Van Driver is someone who has fulfilled all the written and driving requirements necessary to drive the van.
The schedule allows for a weekly set schedule, every other week, or on-call. This is a non-paid volunteer position.
Responsibilities include:
•Drive a 15-passenger van following the policies, procedures, and safety guidelines outlined in the Van Driving Manual and Volunteer Manual
•Fill out the all forms necessary for each trip
•Log your destination and miles for each trip that you drive
•Assist the families in getting on and off of the van
•Remain in the area in case of an emergency (does not pertain to school)
•Report any problems, concerns, or emergencies to the House Manager
•Record volunteer hours
Qualifications/Skills
•Volunteers must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and prepared to show proof of vaccination.
•Must be at least 21 years of age and under the age of 75
•Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and insurance
•Must have a driving record with:
ono more than one violation,
ono speeding tickets that are 20 miles or more over the limit
•Friendly, positive attitude, willingness, and interest in helping people
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
•Dependable
