Through academic affiliations with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC), and the Charles R. DEFINITION:
Operates a bus in transporting personnel throughout County facility grounds and on special bus trips. Occasionally operates vehicles to tow trailers and to pick up and deliver supplies.
Essential Job Functions
Operates a light bus carrying patients, employees, and visitors on a regular scheduled route throughout facility grounds and to other locations such as public schools and parks as directed.
Gives direction and information, assists passengers boarding and departing the bus as required, and renders first aid when necessary.
Meet and deal courteously and effectively with the public.
Responsible for the service and regular maintenance schedule of the bus including the gas, oil, and tires.
Inspects the bus for mechanical conditions effecting safety of operation, makes minor repairs and reports major mechanical defects.
Cleans and washes the bus.
Operates other automotive equipment to pick up and deliver supplies and to transport specially equipped trailers.
Performs water and electrical utility hook up to trailers at destination.
Participates in the moving of supplies in warehouses or other buildings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Six (6) months' experience in driving a bus or a truck of over 10,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight*.
LICENSE: A valid California Class B Driver's License with special endorsement for passenger transport vehicles is required to perform essential job-related functions.

A valid basic first aid certificate from the American Red Cross or another recognized provider.

Successful applicants for positions that require driving must obtain and present a copy of his/her driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before final appointment. Physical Class III - Moderate: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
Candidates for this position may be required to take and pass a urine drug screen. In addition, positions in this class may be subject to Federal Department of Transportation requirements for commercial drivers which include pre-employment, post accident, reasonable suspicion, return to work, follow-up, and random urine drug and/or alcohol testing.

    Benefit Information : Depending on the position, the successful candidate will enroll in a contributory defined benefit pension plan if the candidate is a "new member" of the County's defined benefit plan (LACERA) on or after January 1, 2013 (first employed by the County on or after December 1, 2012) - unless she or he established reciprocity with another public retirement system in which she or he was a member before January 1, 2013.
