**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
**Job Specialty:** Family Birthing Center
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour nights, every other weekend, first to float
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years of experience required
**License:** Required for submission
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring
**Must-Have:** Strong emergency skills, ability to work independently, 2 supervisory references needed (one within the last 12 months and another within the last 3 years)
**Job Description:**
- Work in a Family Birthing Center, focusing on Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby, and Obstetrics.
- Participate in deliveries, handle standard labor and delivery cases, including term and preterm.
- Provide care for couplets, newborns on IV antibiotics, short-term oxygen, and general GYN patients.
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:2 for labor and delivery, 1:1 for active delivery, 1:4 for mother-baby couplets.
- Work collaboratively with another RN and a respiratory therapist during deliveries.
- Participate in floor-specific orientation, lasting 2 to 3 days with a preceptor.
- Attend facility-wide orientation in a designated city.
- Follow up on patient schedules, available from home; make yourself available for extra shifts and trades with other staff.
- Holiday work policy requires working two of the three major holidays, depending on scheduling needs.
- Strong independent work capacity is needed due to fewer resources available during night shifts.
- Responsible for taking action in emergencies with confidence.
- Use Cerner for charting and documentation.
- Understand that block scheduling is not typically available and cancellations may occur up to three times per contract by the hospital.
- Report for shifts at 18:45 and end by 07:15, with bedside reporting.
- Understand that OB and anesthesia are on-call during nights, while a hospitalist or intensivist is in-house during the day.
