**Shift:** 12-hour days, Days+Call, every other weekend, first to float
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years
**License:** Valid RN license required
**Certifications:** BLS, Preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
**Must-Have:**
- Ability to read and interpret fetal strips
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Previous travel nursing experience
- Ability to follow quality metrics
**Job Description:**
- This position is for a Labor and Delivery unit with 15 total beds, including 7 L&D and 8 Postpartum beds.
- The unit has 1 OR suite for C-sections and averages 58 births per month.
- Maintain AWHONN staffing guidelines with a 1:1 ratio for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips and 1:3 for couplet care.
- Care for a variety of patients, primarily obstetric and neonate patients, with conditions such as hypertension and gestational diabetes mellitus. Aim to avoid deliveries before 36 weeks.
- Ability to float to Medsurg and ER departments as needed.
- RNs are required to titrate drips; common drips include pitocin, insulin, and magnesium.
- Serve as a proactive charge nurse who also takes assignments.
- Work with nurse aides/surgical techs who assist with vitals, paperwork, and patient transfers.
- Utilize respiratory equipment when necessary but with troubleshooting as the only RN requirement.
- Read own electronic fetal monitoring strips; the unit uses Philips monitors with the TraceView/PIP system.
- Familiarity with Meditech charting system.
- No self-scheduling offered; block scheduling available.
- Mandatory every other weekend and holiday rotation.
- May be subject to call or standby requirements based on staffing.
- Scrub color is maroon; scrubs are provided and changed into surgical scrubs on the unit.
- Orientation includes 3 shifts specific to the unit/department.
- Adaptability to change, effective communication, and critical thinking are vital to success in this role.
- Comply with a 50-mile radius rule for applicants from affiliated facilities.
- Additional requested time off (RTO) is limited to 7 days per contract and must be submitted upfront.
**Please note:** RNs must be adaptive, critical thinkers with effective communication skills. The role requires adherence to a stringent attendance and shift policy without additional RTO post submission.
