Position Summary: Operate school bus and other vehicles for the purpose of transporting students and staff to and from designated locations while providing professional and safe services.
Position Reports to: President/CEO
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Bilingual speaker (Spanish) preferred but not required
Ability to analyze an issue, identify options, and implement solutions
Ability to communicate and effectively interact with children, their family members, management, and staff membersWorks well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Two or more years of experience working with children preferred
Must have a Commercial Driver's License
Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years
Clean driving record with no driving under the influence convictions
Must be at least 21 years old
Essential Job Functions/Duties
Provide transportation in accordance with academy policy and procedure as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Follow designated routes accurately, in accordance with time schedules and stops.
Conduct safe and orderly loading and unloading of students.
Maintain order and discipline on the school bus at all times.
Perform routine operator maintenance to including but not limited to: pre/post inspections, sweeping interior, wiping upholstery, cleaning windshields, and reporting equipment defects.
Operate a school bus or other district vehicles safely at all times.
Operate vehicles during inclement weather.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Environmental Conditions:
Performs duties with exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to care children, and occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Must have ability to sit (75%), walk/stand (25%), routinely throughout the shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have functional senses/manual dexterity to carry out the job and communicate effectively. Must have the ability to deal effectively with the stress of managing emergency/critical situations and multiple tasks. Must also be able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet and adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects
