Aerotek is looking for Material Handlers /Overhead Crane Operators:Job DutiesCandidates will start by training for a month doing general clean-up, learning color codes for steel, placement in warehouse and training on the crane based on previous crane experienceCandidates must be able to walk for 8-10 hour shifts (roughly 8 miles a day) in an inside/outside role. Candidates must be okay with exposure to the elements, running indoor and outdoor cranes, and performing all functions to include housekeeping that comes with the role as they could be placed on one particular crane that stores materials outside.Will eventually learn to not just pull beams but eventually load flat bed trailers and railcars which includes rigging, getting up onto the backs of flatbeds with ease, receiving inventory, moving materials to the loaders via overhead crane etc., filling out shipping reports and bills of lading and documenting all outgoing loadsWill be working around flatbed trucks and railcar systems and must adhere to all safety rules (not walking in between stacks and always being visible to other associates) Candidate May train to be a saw or brake operator, forklift operator is considered a promotional opportunity, steel bending machine or beam saw/cutters.Candidates must be able to learn and retain information solely based on color as their inventory system and coding system are painted beam ends. They must be able to see color clearly and memorize locations and color system.Basic QualificationHeavy industrial experience or construction experience is required.Candidates must be able to read a tape measure-and must be verified with test or reference.Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, (although nothin in that building can be lifted by hand as it's too large) Most is reaching, stooping, squatting etc as most product must be lifted by crane.)Must be able to operate equipment effectively and safely and have worked around heavy equipment in construction or similar work to steel.Ideally Candidates should have Overhead crane experience in a heavy industry OR come from construction or related field .About Aerotek:We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
