**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery
**Job Specialty:** Labor & Delivery
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified
**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year in the related nursing specialty preferred
**License:** RN License in state of employment or compact
**Certifications:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Current certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring or relevant Fetal Heart Monitoring courses
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within stipulated timelines for new hires and experienced nurses
**Must-Have:**
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
- Completion of a Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal setting is preferred
**Job Description:**
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
- Develop and use specific care plans, modifying to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practice.
- Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document treatment progression and teaching goals.
- Plan for patient admission, discharge, and transfer to facilitate patient flow.
- Educate and train others on the operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry.
- Incorporate patient safety practices to promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
- Maintain standards of high-quality nursing care and professional practice.
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
- Participate in nursing research and quality improvement activities.
