Job Requirements / Description
The Yard Truck Driver (or spotter/switch Truck Driver) is responsible for moving tractor trailers to and from the loading docks and parking loaded or empty trailers in designated areas. All driving is expected to be completed safely in accordance with all Company policies and state/federal regulations. Responsible for fueling, moving and parking tractors and trailers to the docks and parking the loaded or empty trailers in the designated areas. Requires attention to safety and cautious driving in the facility parking lot. The Yard Driver communicates and interacts with co-workers and vendors professionally ensuring all services and duties are executed in accordance with company SOP's.
Backing trailers into loading docks, loading and unloading trailers
Performing all necessary safety checks and following safety procedures; reporting any safety incidents or suspected hazards
Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
Sorting trailers in drop lot
Lifting up to 50lbs and use of Forklift may be required
Other duties as assigned
Specialized Skills/Knowledge:
Must have a valid CDL License - Class A license not required
1 year of Tractor trailer driving experience required, preferred food service or manufacturing facility
Strong technical, interpersonal, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands/Factors:
This is a physical job in nature and must be willing to work in a non-controlled temperature environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Shift: 6:30pm-7:00am on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule.
