What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Operate Equipment. Operate ready-mix truck in accordance with all federal, state, and Vulcan regulations. Operate truck to receive a load, evaluate slump, and drive to the job site. Maneuver truck on job site, attach chutes to discharge material, and clean truck to minimize concrete buildup.
Inspect and Maintain Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Clean the outside of the vehicle and chutes to ensure the absence of concrete build-up at the end of each shift.
Document and Record Information. Complete all forms, service reports, tickets, and required paperwork to ensure organization of documents and needed paperwork.
Coordinate with Dispatch. Work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service.
Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities such as cleaning all areas on the vehicle, climbing a ladder to inspect loads of ready mix concrete, hanging mixer chutes, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Ready to Drive. Must possess a commercial driver's license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.
Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing ready-mix trucks is preferred. Experience with Department of Transportation rules and regulations is preferred.
Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Customer Focus. Must be able to take responsibility for customer relationships and appropriately represent Vulcan on job sites and while transporting product on public streets and highways.
Clean Driving Record. Must have a clean and safe driving record and the ability to safely operate and control equipment while on the job.

- Experienced candidates will be placed according to the union contract salary scale between $29.54 to $32.54.
