Shift Available - 2nd shift - 2:00 pm to 2:00 am

Salary - $22.04 plus $1.00 per hour shift differential

Essential Functions

  • Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials, using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, electromagnet, or bucket: Observes load hookup and determines safety of load.

  • Manipulates or depresses crane controls, such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.

  • Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanism.

  • Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.

  • May attach load to hook or other crane accessory prior to operating crane and be designated Crane Operator-Hooker or Crane Operator-Hooktender.

  • Inspect crane for safety issues on a daily basis.

  • Participate in department safety; demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors, which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.

  • Other duties assigned by the management staff.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • High school diploma highly desirable but not required

  • One year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or willing to learn

  • Three or more years of previous experience operating overhead cranes preferable

  • The ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner

  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions

  • Must be dependable and trustworthy

  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates

  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment

  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems

Work Environment and Physical Efforts:

Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable. Able to balance; bend/stoop; climb stairs; crawl; crouch; climb ladders; kneel; push/pull; reach above shoulder; repetitive motion; squat and feel. Complete repetitive movements. Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable. Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds. Requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/air conditions and around dust. Exposure to hazards in the work environment such as chemicals, oil, power industrial vehicles.
