CLASS A DRIVER (PORT DIVISION)

Position Summary
Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is looking for several Class A Port Drivers to join our team. The Port Driver will be responsible for transporting containers to and from the ports of Los Angeles & Long Beach. The ideal candidate will have a valid Commercial Driver’s License, a valid TWIC card, and a clean driving record. He/she must be able to lift heavy objects and be comfortable working in all weather conditions. The port driver will be responsible for following all safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Transport materials to various destinations, placing special focus on safety, traffic rules and regulations.
- Accurately fill out paperwork, including: daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports and customer work order tickets.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Operations Supervisor and/or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by EAP, Inc. or as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
- Work closely with Operations Supervisor to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Operations Supervisor and Safety team of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
- Notify Operations Supervisor and/or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to Dispatch and/or Operations Supervisor.
- Other tasks/duties as assigned.
- Drive trucks to and from port facilities, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Load and unload cargo from trailers, ensuring to adhere to proper lifting techniques.
- Inspect vehicles for any potential mechanical irregularities/safety issues and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate with dispatch to receive instructions and coordinate daily activities.
- Keep track of hours worked and mileage covered.
- Report any accidents or incidents IMMEDIATELY.
- Follow company policies and procedures AT ALL TIMES.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Requirements
Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills
- Valid/Current (Class A) Commercial Driver’s License REQUIRED
- Ability to haul 40’ - 53’ trailers
- Ability to read and understand a map/GPS
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
- Ability to drive tractors with manual and automatic transmissions
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Minimum 1 year of previous VERIFIABLE CDL truck driving experience REQUIRED
- Hazmat endorsement, or willingness to obtain PREFERRED
- 21 years of age or older REQUIRED
- Clean MVR with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years REQUIRED
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and DOT drug screening
- Experience driving a port drayage truck PREFERRED
- Experience with containerized cargo PREFERRED
- Forklift certification PREFERRED
- TWIC card REQUIRED

Compensation
The Class A Driver (Port Division) role presents an enticing opportunity, encompassing an average annual salary (performance based) ranging from $33,280 to $104,000. Complementing this salary are comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan with employer matching, ample paid time off, and life insurance coverage.
