Summary You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will operate multiple types of hydraulic boon cranes to load, unload, move and position heavy material and equipment. You will work from hand, radio and other approved types of signals to position items where is there restricted maneuverability. You will complete Operator's Daily Checklist (ODCL) to document pre and post crane inspections. You will use load charts to determine crane's lifting capacity in relation to the position of the boom and to compensate for variations in a crane's lifting capacity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Operating boom cranes to load, unload, move and position material with restricted maneuver ability requiring critical accuracy; 2) Interpreting and working from standard hand and radio signals; 3) Performing required operator's maintenance, inspections, and reporting; 4) Using Operator's Daily Checklists to document pre and post crane inspections.
