Required Skills & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, Transportation Planning, Environmental Science, or related field (master’s preferred). · 2-3 years of experience in transportation demand management (TDM), urban planning, or a related field. · Proficiency in PowerPoint for creating clear and engaging presentations. · Experience with GIS software to analyze, interpret, and visualize spatial transportation data. · Knowledge of transportation planning, sustainable transportation modes, and traffic demand management strategies. · Strong organizational and project management skills. · Excellent communication and public speaking skills to interact with stakeholders and the public. · Ability to analyze transportation data and prepare clear, detailed reports.

Job Description

A client in the Bay Area is looking for a Transportation Demand Management Coordinator to join their team. The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs that reduce congestion, promote sustainable transportation options, and improve accessibility to alternative modes of travel such as public transit, cycling, walking, carpooling, and telecommuting. The coordinator will work with a variety of stakeholders, local transit agencies, and transportation service vendors, to create strategies that enhance transportation efficiency, reduce reliance on Single Occupancy Vehicles (SOVs), and decrease environmental impacts. Work Environment: · Office-based, with regular in-person and virtual visits to internal stakeholders. · Frequent on-site event attendance and occasional external event attendance and coordination. Responsibilities: Program Development & Implementation: · Design and implement TDM strategies that reduce the demand for parking and single-occupancy vehicles. · Promote the use of alternative transportation options like public transit, carpooling, biking, walking, teleworking, and shared mobility services. · Create educational programs, events, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness of sustainable commuting options. Stakeholder Engagement: · Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and transportation service providers to support regional TDM initiatives. · Work with company departments and leadership to incorporate TDM strategies into corporate sustainability plans. · Foster relationships with public transit providers, cycling organizations, and advocacy groups. Data Collection & Reporting: · Conduct surveys and analyze commuting patterns to assess transportation needs and opportunities for improvement. · Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of TDM programs through data collection, performance metrics, and regular reporting. · Prepare and present detailed reports on program outcomes, including cost savings, environmental benefits, and employee participation. · Use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to create maps and spatial data visualizations to support transportation planning and decision-making processes. · Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations using PowerPoint and other presentation tools, showcasing program outcomes, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership. Policy Advocacy & Development: · Assist in the development of policies and procedures that encourage the use of sustainable transportation modes. · Stay up to date on local, regional, and national transportation policies and funding opportunities that support TDM efforts. · Advocate for policies that promote transit-friendly development, congestion management, and environmental sustainability. Event Planning & Promotion: · Organize and lead events such as bike-to-work days, carpool matching programs, or public transit information fairs. · Create and distribute marketing materials, both digital and print, to encourage employee and community participation in TDM initiatives.
