POSITION SUMMARY: To safely and efficiently transport products from the warehouse to customers' locations by driving a tractor trailer, and properly delivering and unloading products according to customer invoices and company standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely transport products from the warehouse to customer locations and ensure timely delivery according to assigned routes.
- Unload products from trailers by hand or using hand carts, and place them in designated customer storage areas according to specifications.
- Pick up, load, and unload damaged goods and customer returns, and transport products back to the warehouse.
- Complete all necessary paperwork according to company and governmental guidelines.
- Ensure all food safety protocols are met and maintain sanitary conditions in the tractor, trailer, warehouse, and yard.
- Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service.
- Communicate with management team regarding any deviations to route, trailer, loading issues, or customer/product issues.
- Transport backhaul products and ensure timely delivery according to company standards.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hazmat guidelines, and safe lifting and delivery practices. Skill in driving over long distances and in varying weather conditions, as well as effective communication with customers and problem-solving. Ability to handle hazardous materials, operate various equipment, and meet productivity standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequently required to lift, push, or move product weighing up to 50 pounds by hand, and push/pull up to 350 pounds with a 2-wheeled hand cart. Climb in and out of a tractor and trailer, and perform bending, twisting, and reaching tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasionally exposed to various environmental conditions and may be required to work in confined spaces. Overnight schedule, including weekends and holidays, and overtime may be required.
