National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in the full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

As an Associate Project Manager, you will be a part of either the NE Transmission Line and Substations Program Management or NE Distribution Line Program Management. You will help the team anticipate the needs of our customers, reducing the cost of energy delivery today, and pioneering the flexible energy systems of tomorrow.

This is a hybrid role with 1-3 days in the office weekly or site visit in Massachusetts.

What You'll Do

You will support the management of non-complex portfolio projects of the Electric Transmission, Substations, and Distributions jurisdictions.

  • Manage a non-complex portfolio of projects from project inception through construction and closeout while implementing resource strategies to meet regulatory, budgetary, and jurisdictional goals for New England Distribution portfolio.
  • Identify issues early in the lifecycle of each project and effectively troubleshoot the issues encountered (e.g. procurement/construction field issues) to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Develop project schedules and perform accurate monthly schedule updates in Primavera P6 Professional (P6) for projects based on negotiated dates with project team contributors to meet customer in service dates.
  • Keep internal and external departments informed of project requirements and schedules using appropriate communication methods (i.e. project team meetings).
  • Track, report, and forecast project financials and milestones each month.
  • Ensure proper closeout of projects that may include reconciliation of customer payments by working closely with Customer Energy Integration (CEI).

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering or Project Management from an accredited institution
  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States

Salary Range
Waltham, Massachusetts $78,000 - $92,000 a year

Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
