Nurse Director Labor & Delivery

Position: Director of Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Location: Just outside Alexandria, VA

Salary: Up to $160,000 per year, plus bonus, sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance

Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management :
• Oversee daily operations of the L&D department in a 180+ bed hospital with a growing Women’s program.
• Supervise a team consisting of 2 Assistant Nurse Directors, and manage L&D suites, Post-Partum, and Ante-Partum units.
• Ensure effective management of about 100 deliveries per month.
• Strategic Planning :
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on strategic initiatives and program development.
• Staff Development :
• Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, including Assistant Nurse Directors and other team members.
• Promote ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
• Quality and Compliance :
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital standards.
• Implement quality improvement initiatives and monitor outcomes to maintain high standards of care.
• Patient Care :
• Advocate for patient safety and high-quality care across the department.
• Address and resolve any patient care issues or concerns effectively.

Qualifications:

• Education :
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. Advanced degree (MSN or DNP) preferred.
• Licensure :
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or eligibility to obtain.
• Experience :
• Strong background in Labor & Delivery with significant experience in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in managing L&D operations, including oversight of Post-Partum and Ante-Partum care.
• Experience with a similar volume of deliveries and departmental size is preferred.
• Skills :
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex situations effectively.
