GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Operator 1 - Forklift position plays a key role in the long-term success of the business. This position contributes to our operations by accurately entering information into the database and ensuring the proper information is added in shipment information.

1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct inspections of forklift prior to operating.
• Receive product from field and unload it at the cooling area.
• Organize boxes/totes of product on pallets or skids for secure transport
• Weigh product and/or material and record weight and production information on labels and tags.
• Transport cooled product within facility.
• Report any damage or safety hazards to supervisor.
• Coordinate with supervisors, managers, and equipment manufacturers regarding handling of product.
• Wrap loads with wrapping material.
• Make sure cooling area is clean.
• Support other team members in a direct and respectful manner.
• Adhere to all employee company policies and food safety requirements.
• All other tasks as needed.

1. QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 1 year of operating forklift experience

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong communication skills needed, including customer service.
• Strong work ethic.
• Bilingual strongly preferred.
• Able to travel to other locations for long periods of time.
• Must be 18 years of age.

1. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Working in inclement weather (temperatures as low as 30 degrees F up and as high as 110 degrees F).
• Be able to adapt to quickly changing schedule in conjunction with harvest schedule.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule - days, nights or weekends.
