Unit Specific Information

Unit: Family Birthing Center - L&D and Mother Baby Ante/Post - all aspects of delivery
Ratios: 1:2 L&D, 1:1 delivery. 1:4 Mother/Baby couplets
EMR: Cerner
Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief
Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holidays Rotate in with core staff
Scrub Color: Provided
Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
Vents: No
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes
IV Team: No
RT 24/7: Yes
Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen
Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor
Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Term, preterm, some high risk. Also have antepartum population

Additional Details

Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years)
Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed
Modules are required to be done before start of assignment
Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital
