At Star Construction, as a Truck Driver, you’ll operate a variety of equipment, trasporting heavy equipment, and vehicles. You will also use your abillities to examine vehicles, determine repairs and resovle vehicle issues.

What you’ll do as a Truck Driver / Mechanic

Transport and move fleet vehicles and equipment.
Examines vehicle and discusses with manager repair and or service needed.
Determine nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
Upon determination order parts.
Plans work procedure.
Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
Removes unit such as engine, transmission, or differential.
Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.

What you’ll need

You are at least 18 years old
You are authorized to work in the United States for this company
You are able to maintain a safe work environment
You must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement
You have work experience hauling equipment
You have work experience as a mechanic
You are able to proficiently operator manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete jobs
You may have previous construction or utility construction experience

Additional qualifications

You have an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company
You are able to work in all weather conditions
You are able to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call

Physical abilities & exposures

Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb and lift greater than 50 pounds close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed. May be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
Occasionally: Employees may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals as well as moving machinery parts and pieces. long driving and sitting maybe required.

Salary Range $25.00 to $30.00 / hr (based on experience)
