Release Train Engineer

At Cognizant, we are looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) who plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of value through the Agile Release Train (ART). By facilitating events, driving continuous improvement, managing dependencies, and supporting teams, the RTE helps to create a high-performing ART that delivers value to the organization and its customers. The RTE's responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, from planning and coordination to coaching and risk management, making them a key player in the success of the ART.

Location: Seattle, WA (On-Site)

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures overall deliverables are completed, including project charter, plan, schedule, requirements, design, development, testing, implementation, policies and procedures, standards, contracts, risks, and issues resolutions.
  2. Plans projects in detail, develops and manages project budgets, organizes project teams and works with resource managers to coordinate and align resource needs.
  3. Identifies, evaluates, and proactively manages cross-project interdependencies.
  4. Manages progress of efforts and communicates status to sponsors, stakeholders on a regular basis and to senior leadership as needed.
  5. Participates in strategic roadmap planning and may facilitate and provide materials for portfolio review meetings.
  6. Excellent communication skills, able to flex style and work with all levels within the organization from individual contributors to Executives.
  7. Proactively identify opportunities and contribute to continuous business process improvement efforts to help streamline and standardize workflow, communication, and resource efficiencies utilizing relative process improvement techniques and methodologies.
  8. Ensures smooth implementation of new technologies and vendor integrations by using their expertise on their assigned domains and interfaces.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, or in a related technical field or equivalent technology experience.
  2. 15+ years Project Management experience with expertise on Order Management Systems.
  3. 8+ years’ experience in Order Management System, development, and delivery (highly valued).
  4. Facilitate PI Planning, Coordinate ART Events, Manage Dependencies.
  5. Drive Continuous Improvement, Implement Lean-Agile Practices, Facilitate Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, Identify and Mitigate Risks, Escalate Issues, Track ART Performance, Coach Agile Teams, Manage PI Objectives.
  6. Experience creating and executing implementation strategies for complex systems.
  7. Strong relationship management skills and understanding of organizational change management.
  8. Understanding of various delivery frameworks and practices (Waterfall, Agile, DevOps, Lean, etc.) and appropriate application of them.
  9. Ability to apply highly complex principles, theories, and concepts of the technical discipline and provide solutions to a wide range of complex tasks, projects, and problems.
  10. Ability to determine estimates of effort and impacts for a variety of solutions and influence technical discussions and decisions.
  11. Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and prioritize numerous tasks and to coordinate activities with a high sense of urgency.
  12. Excellent presentation, verbal, written, interpersonal, and listening skills.
  13. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation.
  14. Strong collaboration skills to achieve business goals collectively across broad teams.
  15. Strong vendor management skills.
  16. Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
