Job Summary:
Coordinate shift work of Patient Transport personnel assigned to their shift. Employee is responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of all systems in this area.

Job Description:
  • Responsible for the activities and training of the transport personnel including the efficient operation of the tele-tracking system.
  • Investigates and handles any complaints or problems with user departments, ensuring that current written policies and procedures are observed, and standards are maintained ensuring positive, productive customer service.
  • Responsible for all in-services/training, lifting techniques and infection control, ensuring that proper technique is used at all times to protect patients and employees.
  • Conducts huddle meetings with transporters as needed, ensuring that all questions and concerns are addressed.
  • Uses tele-tracking system appropriately to maintain accurate records of daily productivity of each employee in the transport service.
  • Is responsible for signing in and out of pagers and phones.
  • Ensures that all requests for service are responded to in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Responsible for daily assignments in a fair and consistent manner, ensuring that coverage of the department 24 hours a day.
  • Works as transporter when the demand requires it.
  • Performs in other capacities as assigned to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the department.
  • Assists supervisor with information for performance appraisals and documenting concerns and problems of transporters, ensuring that timely correction of any problem.
  • Needs to handle conflicts and questions from nursing staff, ensuring that effective communication between nursing and the transport service.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor as needed.
  • All associates shall follow the applicable safety steps required to perform their duties to ensure safety for themselves and their patients, and be in compliance with Medical Center, state and federal safety standards.
  • Examples of such steps may include performing proper safety procedures and precautions; reporting safety concerns and incidents; using correct lifting techniques, maxi slides and minimal lift equipment and disposing of sharps and infectious was properly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
High School Graduate
Specialized Knowledge:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability of work independently, interdependently and set priorities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to change.
  • Computer entry skills
Kind and Length of Experience:
  • Patient transport experience 2 years
