Ongoing West Hartford Public Schools seeks to fill a position for a licensed School Van Driver position for the start of the 2024-25 school year. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. This position is responsible for driving children to and from school related activities in a safe and efficient manner.
Requirements:

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Must hold a valid Connecticut Driver's License with V endorsement.
• Must have a clean driving record for a minimum of five years.

Responsibilities:

• Drives assigned vehicle safely, observing Connecticut motor vehicle laws and regulations.
• Requires ability to communicate with children, parents and district staff.
• Must be able to establish a positive relationship with children to maintain order and handle emotional or behavioral problems.
• Maintains schedules; adheres to established routes.
• Maintains cleanliness and general condition of assigned vehicle.
• Creates a safe, comfortable and orderly atmosphere for passengers.
• Reports incidents or challenging behavior of passengers to Transportation Coordinator.
• Requires accountability for decisions made regarding discipline, orderliness and road emergencies.
• Work under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator.
• Ability to work independently, with excellent judgment, in the best interests of the passengers and the district.

Full-time position providing transportation for students and staff to and from vocational and community sites.
Hours: 8:15am - 2:45pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday)
8:15am - 12:45pm (Wednesday)
