As a School Bus Driver, your primary role is to ensure the safe transport of students along established routes, including opportunities to drive for field trips and school events. Drivers can work as few as 4.5 hours per day or up to 8 hours per day, with additional hours available for extracurricular activities. Follow the student calendar and enjoy being home when your kids are home!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive students safely to and from school and special events, following designated routes and schedules.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working order; report maintenance needs promptly.
- Foster a safe, respectful environment for students on board by enforcing rules and responding to emergencies.
- Keep accurate records, including fuel usage, trip reports, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain a clean bus, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for students and staff.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating respectful and courteous behavior toward students, parents, staff, and the general public.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- A minimum of 2 years of driving experience with an exemplary driving record. (No more than 2 moving violations in the past seven (7) years.)
- Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. GAC will provide and pay for all training for CDL with school bus certification.
- Dependable and reliable, with the ability to manage your time effectively and be punctual for all shifts.
- Strong communication skills using English, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff in a positive manner.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Ability to contribute to the GAC community and embrace opportunities for ministry and service in a faith-based environment.
CERTIFICATIONS
- CDL license with school bus certification is required. GAC will provide and pay for all training for new hires who do not have this license.
- First aid and CPR certification is desired.
- Completion of a physical certifying medical ability to drive a school bus.
- Successful completion of school bus driver training programs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, and the general public.
- Flexible, with the ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to actively demonstrate the desire for Christ-like relationships by engaging in full campus life and ministry with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance.
- Acknowledgment of and agreement with GAC’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.
- Flexibility in working hours with opportunities for additional hours through field trips and sporting events
