Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead our efforts in expanding our drug delivery services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, with a deep understanding of drug delivery technologies and solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a viable business development strategy to target and qualify new customer opportunities in North America for Drug Packaging and Combination Product Solutions.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships and collaborations.
- Lead negotiations and contract development with clients and partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and related institutions.
- Progress the pipeline of opportunities to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Collaborate with Contract Manufacturing stakeholders to progress customer opportunities seamlessly.
- Understand and communicate emerging needs/trends for drug delivery support services.
- Provide insight on industry trends that impact business strategy.
- Propose solutions for problems affecting the implementation and success of the business strategy.
- Direct the Strategic Marketing team for internal and customer-facing program messaging.
- Support communications and promotional plans to optimize West's market presence.
- Represent West at industry events as needed.
- Collaborate with Sales and Account Management teams to present drug delivery support services as an integral part of our offerings.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's in relevant technical engineering or business/marketing discipline, MBA preferred.
Proven industry track record in Sales and/or Marketing with 15+ years of experience in developing new business opportunities in the Drug Delivery and Combination Product space.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong background with knowledge of combination products, medical device qualification, primary packaging, regulatory requirements, and program management.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to operate with significant autonomy; must be a self-starter and independent decision-maker.
- Excellent customer and partner relationship management skills.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time, including internationally.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with the ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in various situations.
