Location

This position is based out of our Portland, OR.

Responsibilities

  1. Prioritize work and manage tasks for multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
  2. Ability to be well-rounded and work with others, from directors to drafters, engineers to secretaries, need to be that middle link that connects management, design, and personalities together for successful projects.
  3. Prepare design deliverables for underground transmission lines including plan and profiles, ampacity calculations, pulling calculations, material selection, duct bank design, and construction specifications in compliance with safety, environmental, and client standards and policies.
  4. Review drawings developed by junior designers.
  5. Develop project estimates and schedules, evaluate design options and criteria for technical merit, and conduct field visits to verify routing conditions and parameters.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of surveying, geographical information systems, civil and electrical engineering basics.
  2. At least five years’ experience in underground transmission line design.
  3. Proficiency in CYMCAP and Pull-Planner.
  4. Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (desired but not required).
  5. Associates Degree in civil or electrical engineering technology.

  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
