Essential Job Function:
Safety Drivers will operate, lead and follow vehicles during prototype testing of autonomous military ground systems. Drivers will operate a variety of vehicles to include the Palletized Load System (PLS), pickup trucks, utility vehicles, and standard PLS Trailers. The main role of the Safety Truck Driver is to monitor the autonomous operations and to take control from the autonomous system should it direct the vehicle in an unsafe manner.

Responsibilities:
- Retrieve and return test vehicles from local storage location
- Perform Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and general repair on PLS and support vehicles used during testing
- Record notes related to the test events, such as odometer readings, start/stop times for events, weather, and observed anomalous events
- Support daily planning and debrief sessions
- Perform program shutdown activities following the conclusions of the test event such as inventory of test equipment, returning support equipment, cleaning test facilities, and preparing PLS vehicles for shipment
- Each Driver will be responsible for their individual safety
- Vehicle odometer readings pre/post-test daily
- Start/Stop time for each test
- Able to support daily planning and daily debrief sessions
- Perform Program Shutdown Activities following the conclusion of the test event
- Inventory of test equipment
- Return of support equipment as directed
- Clean out test facilities
- Prepare PLS vehicles for shipment
- Must be older than 21years of age
- 2-3 years of experience driving Heavy Equipment Transport(HET)
- Possess a valid/current CDL- Class A
- Must be US citizen or US permanent resident
- Must possess a current medical examiner's certificate
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- No more than one moving violation in the past three years(applicant will provide OMV report current within 30 days)
- Able to pass background check (i.e. No DUI Offences)
- Ability to communicate verbally and written
- Stay mentally engaged for extended time periods
- Mount and dismount oversized vehicles
- Able to undergo training provided in the operation of the autonomous mobility configured PLS
- Lift 50lbs
- Sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to support basic non-strenuous tasks as requested
- Able to retrieve Test Vehicles from the local storage location at the start of each day and return them at the end of each day
- Able to perform Preventative Maintenance and General Repair on PLS and support vehicles used during testing (Pickup Trucks, PLS, and Utility Vehicles)
- Experience driving autonomous mobility-configured vehicles
- Previous military experience
- Secret Security Clearance
- Experience driving PLS vehicles
