POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Christmas Driver

LOCATION/DEPT: Waukegan Corps

REPORTS TO: Corps Officers

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: TPT

OUTCOMES

Provides transportation and coordination for kettle season. In doing so maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients; respect for others' property and persons; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Transport Bell Ringers and kettles to and from sites.
  2. Help to maintain equipment, checking that all kettle workers are clean and presentable.
  3. Provide badges to workers when dropped off.
  4. Coordinate with Kettle Coordinator/Corps Officer on all disciplinary problems.
  5. Log drop off & pick up time of Bell Ringer on route sheet.
  6. Conduct periodical site checks throughout the day to ensure that workers are working.
  7. Assist with daily counting of monies as needed.
  8. Secure monies at all times.
  9. Ensure compliance with all procedures related to assignments.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Under general supervision of the Corps Officers with some freedom to plan, schedule and carry out responsibilities within established policies and guidelines.

This individual relates to, and interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts they act as a representative of the Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • 1-year related experience with a good knowledge of the area.
  • Valid Driver's license and good driving record.
  • Clearance of TSA MVR check.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Corps Officers informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do light physical work. This position requires the ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position the employee is regularly required to drive and set up kettle equipment.
  • The work environment for this position includes an office or outside environment with a low to high noise level.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather elements including severe conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, and ability to focus.
  • This employee is required to drive.
  • Must help to maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
